The student’s council has been formed for the overall development of students in IBRAD. The basic rationale behind the formation of this council is to help the students grow by sharing responsibilities, understanding the problem of fellow students, developing a problem solving attitude and ensuring their own development.
The various areas which come under the purview of the Student’s council are:
1. Academic Programs – This body is responsible for the smooth progress of the academic career of the students. It looks into all the academic related issues of the students. Some of the issues are – interaction with the respective teachers, problems regarding any subject, study material related problems, books etc.
Members: Trisha Majumdar, Vishwajit Mitra, Surajit Acharya, Manas Biswas Some of the programs that have already been undertaken in this regard are:-
a) Establishment of a book bank – this book bank contains books for each subject equal to the number of students so that each student gets books in all the subjects which he or she can keep for the entire semester.
b) Arranging group discussions – Group discussions have been arranged from time to time on various topics.
2. Personality Development – This body looks into issues like proper uniform of students, maintenance of discipline in morning assembly, library, even during lunch, ensuring proper code of conduct within the campus of IBRAD, arranging Quiz, debate etc.
Members: Monalisa Dutta, Shayon Kumar Das, Gourab Kumar Sarkar, Manish Kumar, Tapas Bhoumick, Mrinal Banerjee, Sandip Mondal.
Some programs undertaken are:-
Participation in inter- college competition by the students of IBRAD in St. Xavier’s College etc.
3. Cultural Programs – This body is responsible for arranging and ensuring proper organization of cultural programs in different occasions.
Members: Raja Banerjee, Pranab Kumar de, Suvrojyoti Sarkar, Shubhrangshu Deb, Saudip Banerjee.
The students have organized Fresher’s Day, teacher’s Day with a beautiful collection of dance, drama, songs, recitations and speech. Independence Day celebrations and Iftar party was also organized for all students, teachers and staffs of IBRAD along with other invitees.
Planning is on for a proposed Bijaya Sammilani after the pujas.
4. Student’s Welfare – The welfare body looks into matters like health of students, the quality of food given during lunch and other welfare related issues.
Members: Souvik Ghosh, Mehboob Hassan, Santanu Bhattacharya, Bidhan Bose, Shubham Das, Chirandeep Kharar, Ravi Ranjan Kumar Sharma.
Health checkup camps are to be organized at frequent intervals for the students. It is also ensured that students are getting timely healthy food etc.
5. Placement – This body will be responsible for contacting prospective employers, different companies, arranging interviews and looking into other placement related issues.
6. Sports – The sports council looks into the development of IBRAD’s team of players.
Recently, a football team has been formed which will represent IBRAD in an inter-college football match. A coach has also been appointed and all other facilities like shoes, jercy are provided for the development of the emerging players.
